Condition

Good condition overall with a few minor scratches to the surface and minor wear to the patina consistent with age. Interesting association of Giambologna model with a terrasse signed Barye.Very decorative bronze.

Catalogue Note

La première statue équestre d'Henri IV, inaugurée en 1614, a été réalisée par Giambologna et Pietro Tacca. Elle comportait à chacun angle de son piédestal une figure d'esclave par Pietro Francavilla musée du Louvre). Le bronze monumental de Tacca sera détruite à la Révolution, et remplacée en 1818 par le monument de François-Frédéric Lemot, toujours en place aujourd'hui.
