à roulettes or, dauphin couronné et fleurs de lys, l'intérieur garni de satin ivoire et comportant une dédicace caligraphiée : Ce Drapeau / a été arboré le 21 Décembre 1918 / sur les bureaux allemands / de Saint Goarshausen Hesse Nassau / et amené / par ordre de la Haute Commission interalliée / la paix étant ratifiée / en Juin 1920 / Offert très respectueusement à Monseigneur le Comte de Paris / en témoignage de profonde et sincère fidélité par / G.H. Monod (drapeau manquant) ; contenant également un petit coussin en satin ivoire brodé aux armes de la famille royale de France, du duché d'Orléans et du duché d'Anjou, ainsi qu'un fragment cartonné portant l'inscription : Chaud / Retiré Defsus les Reste / Du Corps De Louis / Seize Lorsque L'on La / transféré Du Simtiere / De La Magdeleine à / St Denis L'an / 1814 [sic]

Illustration is accurate. Lot sold as is.
Morrocco surface scarcely stained and scratched throughout the surface; as said, the flag which used to be contained in this casket is now missing.
Small cushion a little dirty, with a small tearing.
The fragment said to come from Louis XVI's burial in very poor condition.

Henri d'Orléans fut titré Comte de Paris par son père, le Duc de Guise, en 1929. L'atelier des Gruel, relieurs de père en fils depuis 1825, était situé 418 rue Saint-Honoré ; il ferma en 1967.
Les restes de Louis XVI et Marie-Antoinette, enterrés après leur exécution au cimetière de la Madeleine, furent transférés en grande pompe à la basilique Saint-Denis pendant la Première Restauration, le 21 janvier 1815, sur ordre de Louis XVIII.
