Catalogue Note
Fils aîné du duc d'Aumale et de Marie-Caroline des Deux-Siciles, Louis d'Orléans reçut le titre de prince de Condé grâce à son père, filleul du dernier duc de Bourbon et héritier des Condé. De santé fragile, il s'embarqua néanmoins pour un tour du monde le 4 février 1866. Arrivé en Australie en avril, il se trouvait à Sydney lorsqu'il succomba à la turberculose le 24 mai suivant, malgré les soins du fidèle Bohême Geyer.
