Ivory silk stained in places. Gold threads with wear. Good overall condition.

Sixième fille de Ferdinand Ier des Deux-Siciles et de Marie-Caroline d'Autriche (soeur de Marie-Antoinette), Marie-Amélie grandit au palais de Caserte près de Naples, au sein d'une cour très pieuse. Destinée successivement au Dauphin de France Louis-Joseph, puis au grand-duc Constantin et enfin au duc de Berry, elle épouse en 1809 à Palerme un prince en exil, qui se révèlera pourtant promis à un bel avenir, Louis-Philippe duc d'Orléans.
