Description
- Tailleur habillé en satin de soie recouvert d'une résille rebrodée de paillettes
- material
Provenance
Garde robe de Mademoiselle Josette Day, actrice française qui jouait Belle dans La Belle de la Bête de Jean Cocteau.
Condition
Slight wear to the tulle at the jacket edges where the closure hook has missed the loop and snagged the tulle instead but minor and not immediately noticeable. There is an extremely well-done, almost invisible 3cm diam patched repair to the left elbow area. The tulle covering overall is generally good but there is the odd scattered hole. The rear rear hem has slightly more wear to the tulle see pictures. There are two splits in the black silk lining one at each armhole approx 4 and 11cm. The satin lining is generally good but will probably need replacing would not stand up to being worn, but fine for mannequin display.
Skirt: Small bites of fabric have been cut from the inside side seam returns in two places for use in repairing holes in the jacket. Exterior of skirt: approx. 3 holes in the tulle to the front (the largest 1cm diam) and two small holes to the tulle in the back of the skirt. The label from the jacket has been removed there is now just a label in the skirt.
