  • bronze
cast seated in dhyanasana atop a cushion supported on a dais, the right hand in vitarkamudra, the left hand resting on the lap, wearing loose robes with a pandita hat framing the serene face with a mouche beneath the lip, the robes and cushion with finely chased floral and diaper designs

Catalogue Note

The figure likely depicts Lobzang Palden Yeshe. He was the sixth Panchen Lama, but the third to hold the title.  He is regarded as one of the greatest scholars and teachers in the history of Tibetan Buddhism.
