intricately carved through the white overlays with a scholar and acolyte crossing a bridge, the reverse with a scholar in a pavilion

Condition

The snuff bottle is in overall good condition. There are minor losses to the white overlay, including the tips of the branches, the largest measuring approx. 0.7 cm to the rockwork and the cloud swirl. There are also minor nicks to the rim and foot.

The composition and quality of carving on this bottle is reminiscent on that of a double-overlay ruby-red and white double-overlay glass snuff bottle from the Mary and George Bloch collection, sold in these rooms, 26th May 2014, lot 1004.
