of circular section, the cover delicately carved with an animated scene depicting Liu Hai strolling through a walled garden enclosed within cragged cliffs and looking playfully at his three-legged toad, the setting further detailed with various immortals and acolytes, the sides of the box and cover with evenly spaced bajixiang emblems interspersed with lingzhi cloud scrolls and soaring bats, the underside with a key-fret border encircling a countersunk base, the interior lacquered black

Condition

There are minute nicks to the intricate carving on the exterior of the box and cover, some of which retouched. There are also flakes to the relacquered interior and base, as well as occasional typical age cracks in keeping with age. The box and cover are otherwise in overall good condition.
