A RARE PAIR OF PINK GLASS VASES, MEIPING QING DYNASTY, 19TH CENTURY

each with a baluster body rising from a slightly splayed foot and surmounted by a short flared neck, the glass of an even opaque rose-pink colour

The two vases are in good overall condition. There is some light pitting or minute dents to the surface of both. The rim of one is slightly uneven in one area, possibly the result of a polished air bubble or dent on the rim. The actual colour is somewhat brighter compared to the catalogue illustration.

Chinese Glass from Three American Collections, Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, San Francisco, 1995, cat. no. 65, and sold at Christie’s Hong Kong, 1st December 2010, lot 2936; a pair of yellow vases, with slightly broader and flaring necks, sold in our New York rooms, 28th February 1980, lot 154; and a single vase, sold in our Hong Kong rooms, 4th November 1997, lot 1245.
