each with a baluster body rising from a slightly splayed foot and surmounted by a short flared neck, the glass of an even opaque rose-pink colour
Condition
The two vases are in good overall condition. There is some light pitting or minute dents to the surface of both. The rim of one is slightly uneven in one area, possibly the result of a polished air bubble or dent on the rim. The actual colour is somewhat brighter compared to the catalogue illustration.

A closely related pair of meiping was sold in our London rooms, 28th October 1983, lot 68. See also a vase of similar baluster form simulating realgar, in the Toledo Museum of Art, included in the exhibition Clear as Crystal. Red as Flame, China House Gallery, New York, 1990, cat. no. 30; a yellow glass meiping, but with a shorter neck, from the collection of Walter and Phyllis Shorenstein, included in the exhibition A Chorus of Colours. Chinese Glass from Three American Collections, Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, San Francisco, 1995, cat. no. 65, and sold at Christie’s Hong Kong, 1st December 2010, lot 2936; a pair of yellow vases, with slightly broader and flaring necks, sold in our New York rooms, 28th February 1980, lot 154; and a single vase, sold in our Hong Kong rooms, 4th November 1997, lot 1245.
