the globular body supported on a flared foot, surmounted by a long tubular neck, the glass of a deep cobalt-blue colour suffused with paler bubbles, the base with a four-character wheel-cut reign mark
Condition
The bottle is in good overall condition. There is some expected surface wear underneath the base, a minute nick to the footrim, possibly original, as well as light pitting in areas to the surface on the body and neck. There are a few typical faint bubbles trapped in the glass paste (as visible on the photograph in the catalogue). The actual colour is close if not a little less purple compared to the catalogue illustration.

Catalogue Note
Of a deep cobalt blue tone, this vase is notable for its well-proportioned form and impressive large size. Blue vases of this form are more commonly known of smaller size; see two sold in these rooms, 29th November 1979, lot 384, and, 26th November 1980, lot 440; another, sold in our London rooms, 15th June 1979, lot 147; and a fourth vase but with a straight foot, sold in our New York rooms, 20th March 2002, lot 307.
