the cover carved as two ingots forming a composite ingot-shape, the dense floriated vines carved through the red lacquer to leaves picked out in lower layers of green lacquer on an ochre ground, the sides further picked out with magnolia borne on leafy scrolls, the interior lacquered black and painted with floral sprays in gold

Condition

The box and cover are in overall good condition. There are a few minor flakes to the extremities, some of which have been stabilised. There are also fine surface age cracks as can be expected.
