  • lacquer
carved through layers of rich cinnabar lacquer with two scholars smiling contemplating a rock below a tall overhanging pine, an attendant following carrying a wrapped qin, all against a floral diaper ground, the cap similarly decorated with a scholar drinking wine seated below a tree

Condition

There are some stabilised cracks to the edge of the cap, and minor restoration as well to the tip end of the brush handle. There are some further occasional small touch up as can be expected but overall the brush is in good condition.
