the circular brushpot with slightly waisted sides, incised with a poetic inscription dated to the seventh month of the Autumn of the wushen year (in accordance with 1848), signed by He xiang shu zi ying; the square-sectioned brushpot with cusped edges, supported on four short bracket feet, the densely grained wood of a rich golden brown colour

The zitan brushpot: Art of Chen, Taipei, 2003.

Condition

The two brushpots are generally in good condition. There are some faint age crackles and light typical surface scratches as well as expected minor nicks, predominantly along the edges of the mouthrims and footrims.
