Description
- jade
the celadon jade elaborately carved with three chilong clambering around an archaic bi disc with tightly spaced bosses on the reverse, the stone of pale green colour with russet patches at the outer edges, the double gourd skilfully carved in openwork with an attendant smaller gourd, a small monkey clambering between the leaves, the celadon jade of a pale green colour highlighted with patches of russet skin
Condition
The two carvings are generally in good condition. There is some surface wear or tiny occasional nicks or typical nibbling along the edges of the openwork or on the surface, including a nick to the tip of the vine and the edge of a leaf wreathing the gourd. The actual colours of the stones are somewhat more celadon, less bright compared to the catalogue illustration.
