the deep rounded sides resting on a tapered foot, brightly enamelled on the exterior with four cartouches enclosing scenes of court ladies and dignitaries gathering in fenced courtyards, alternating with smaller cartouches variously decorated with landscape sceneries of lush vegetation or flowers and birds, all delicately picked out in soft pastel enamels and reserved against a gilt-diapered ground, the interior centred with a freely painted leafy spray of floral buds and blooms
