the larger of cylindrical form, carved with three grooms and three horses in a rural setting below a tall overhanging pine, one side mounted with a metal shield-shaped panel incised with a dragon biting a severed hand, the mouthrim and footrim with lobed silver fittings; the smaller carved with three scholars conversing below pine trees, the bamboo of a warm reddish-brown colour

Condition

There are some expected age cracks to both including a larger one slightly opening on the larger brushpot. There is some surface wear, a few occasional dents, consistent with age. The larger brushpot is mounted with European metal mounts and inset with an metal blason engraved with armorials.
