Description
- porcelain
the vase of archaistic baluster form set with lug handle, the washer modelled with a ten-pointed star-shaped rim, both applied with an even pale greyish-blue glaze suffused with a network of dark grey and russet crackles, save for the footring left unglazed and dressed in a brown wash in imitation of the Song dynasty ware
Condition
Apart from a small flake of approx. 0.3 cm to the brown-dressed unglazed footring, the vase is in overall very
good condition. The washer has three glaze pulls - one of approx. 0.2 by 0.5 cm to the exterior and two others to the base. The footring has an approx. 0.5 cm flake, as well as some original frittings and kiln accretions. There is also expected wear to the brown-dressed mouthrim. Comparing to the catalogue illustration, the vase is of a richer bluish celadon colour and the washer, slightly greener.
