AN INSCRIBED CANTON ENAMEL VASE QING DYNASTY, 19TH CENTURY

of compressed baluster form with a quatrefoil rim, each side modelled with a raised lobed panel, one enclosing a Qianlong poem, the reverse depicting two butterflies and sprays of chrysanthemum, all reserved on a dark blue ground detailed with lotus, the shoulders set with bat handles, the interior and the base enamelled in dark pink, the base inscribed with an apocryphal Qianlong seal mark 

The dark blue enamel ground has been extensively restored with most of the enamels now filled-in with an old dark green wax. There is some occasional wear and scratches to the painted panels.
