well cast as Shakyamuni Buddha seated in vajraparyankasana on a beaded and rounded triangular double lotus base, adorned in loose robes draped over the body partially revealing the right chest, the right hand held in bhumisparshamudra, the left in dhyanamudra, the facial expression rendered serene with downcast eyes and slightly upturned lips, framed by long pendulous earlobes and hair neatly arranged in rows of tight curls covering the domed usnisa, the underside of the base sealed with a plate beneath incised with a visvavajra
Condition
The sculpture is generally in good condition. There is some surface wear and rubbing to the gilding, consistent with age and as visible on the photo. There is some typical pitting in areas and a few occasional dents to the rim of the base, the platform of the lotus base or the pendulous earlobes, as well as some surface wear to rear of the head. The base is sealed.
