Description
- hardstone, lacquer
the three-panel screen decorated one side with a variety of auspicious objects and carvings including archaic vases, mythical animals, fruits or bird, all finely inlaid in jades, coloured stones, wood or cloisonné enamels on a black lacquer ground, all set in a carved hardwood frame carved with chilong vying for a pearl above and further archaistic dragons wreathing a longevity character shou below, the reverse decorated in shaded tones of gold enamels on each panel with idyllic landscapes of pavilions and bridges scatted along a riverbank, the wood richly patinated
Condition
The screen is in good overall condition. The lacquer ground is stabilized and some of the inlays are likely to have been replaced or re-affixed over the years but overall the screen is in excellent presentation stage. There are some expected minor occasional chips or age cracks to the carved wood frame.
