Condition
This canvas is well-stretched. It is highly unusual to see a Carrington on canvas which has not developed any cracking. In this case, the cracking is most visible on the right side, but it is not giving rise to any instability. The only retouches visible when viewed under ultraviolet light are to the right of the standing dog in the lower center where some cracking has been retouched. There is also a small loss on the tree-line in the upper center in the sky that has been retouched. The restoration is good.
The work has a dull varnish which shows a thin scratch in the upper right quadrant. The varnish could be addressed, but overall the condition is very good.
