Condition

The work is generally in good condition. The surface is intact without any paint lifting. Upon very close inspection, there are 2 pinhole-sized paint losses, about 29 cm from the top edge, 36 cm from the left. A few areas of retouching are visible under ultraviolet light: there are a few thin lines and small dots of retouching along the left edge; there is a patch of retouching, measuring 3cm by 1cm, located near the bottom edge about 33cm from the left edge; there are a few dots of retouching along the right half of the bottom edge and to the extreme lower right corner; there is a vertical thin broken line of retouching, measuring 40cm in length, located about 45cm from the right edge and 69cm from the bottom. This work is framed.

Catalogue Note

"Against a background made of precious colours and material, abruptly attacked by dark and never-ending broken lines, a gentle and vacillating light shines from a secret star." – René Drouin, 1972
