Tirage argentique d'époque (145 x 105 mm), contrecollé sur carton d'atelier (260 x 200 mm), portant la signature de Nadar imprimée en mordoré.
Carton roussi, le tirage est en très bon état avec quelques très légères rayures superficielles et quelques retouches légèrement brunies, minime accroc au milieu du bord gauche du carton.
Portrait en buste, de face. Mallarmé est vêtu d'un pardessus noir et porte une cravate nouée.
