Condition

The canvas has been lined. There is a pattern of hairline craquelure, notably in the sky and which seems stable. Minor signs of rubbing are visible notably along the lower left framing edge and to the lower right corner. Ultra-violet light reveals signs of retouching notably in the sky and in the clouds in the upper right quadrant of the composition addressing craquelure and possible flaking, in the two deer to the left and in the man to the right, and other scattered spots throughout. The picture is in otherwise good condition and ready to hang. Presented in a decorative gilt frame.
