worked in polychrome wool and silk, centred with a shaped cartouche enclosing two figures in a landscape, with an exuberant floral surround, probably previously seat upholstery, now framed

Condition

Overall measurements: 81 by 64cm (framed); 74 by 58cm (textile visible); 2ft. 8in., 2ft. 1in. and 2ft. 5in., 1ft. 11in. In good overall professionally restored condition. Even oxidisation to browns overall, commensurate with dye colour. Some small areas of canvas visible in top right corner of brown ground, and to areas within the clothing of the figures, including within collars, belt, bodice and skirt. Some reworking of light silk areas, commensurate with age. Small repair to cartouche motif in lower right corner. Figures faces very finely worked and all features clearly visible. Charming and very decorative panel.
