Provenance

The 6th Earl of Rosebery, Sotheby's Mentmore sale, Buckinghamshire, 18th-20th May 1977, lot 1226.

Condition

In overall good conserved condition. The leather is worn and stained as visible from the catalogue photograph. Some refreshment to the painting and gilding and some minor losses to the gilding which can easily be touched up. The drapery swag right-side and part of the ribbon-tied drapery has been chipped off revealing the wood beneath and the gilding would benefit from some retouching there.
