Description
- walnut, stained fruitwood
with a rectangular padded back, downscrolled arms above a rectangular padded seat and block and turned legs joined by stretchers on flattened bun feet covered in polychrome wool Flame stitch textile, Italian, 18th century, together with a German carved walnut armchair, circa 1740, with arched padded back downscrolled arms and serpentine padded seat and cabriole legs joined by X-frame stretcher centred by a rosette, the underside of the stretcher with a printed paper label Zollamt Salzberg, Zollgut, with similar upholstery

Condition
Sofa:
In overall good conserved condition. Joints sound and sturdy. Old very minor marks, chips and scratches. Some wear revealing lighter coloured wood beneath. Flame stitch upholstery with later repairs along edge of seat.
Armchair:
In overall good conserved condition. Joints sound and sturdy. Old minor marks, chips and scratches commensurate with age and normal usage. Some old very minor restorations to the pegs and seat-rail. The back supports are a lighter colour than the rest and are possibly replacements. Both arms are restored. Wool flame stitch upholstery with some loose threads in areas, especially along front edge of seat.
