Condition

The canvas has been relined. There is some minor hairline craquelure on the painting surface, notably to the upper half of the composition, and some rubbing along the framing edges. Ultra-violet light reveals some minor scattered spots of retouching to the right and bottom edge, and some areas of the sky in the centre of the composition which fluoresce quite opaquely and which could be associated with old discoloured varnish. Presented in a decorative gilt frame.
