of circular form, the domed cover carved through rich layers of red lacquer with a central medallion enclosing fishermen working by the riverbanks, set in a landscape with cottages sheltered amongst trees and mountains, all encircled by keyfret and lappet bands, the sides of the cover and box with rectangular cartouches enclosing floral branches issuing from rocks, divided by the beribboned bajixiang (Eight Buddhist Emblems), all reserved on a cellular diaper ground, the rims bordered by keyfret bands, lacquered black to the interior and base
Condition
There is a restored section to the box approx. 7.5 x 9.5cm., and touch ups to the rim of the cover. There is a small chip to the rim of the cover, some loss to the foot, and some stress cracks to the lacquer on the interior of the cover and box.
