Condition
The canvas has been relined, the paint surface is clean, the colours bright and the picture is in overall very good condition. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals a slightly uneven varnish and some very minor spot retouchings in the sky, centre right. There is also some strengthening in the head of the donkey on which the girl rides and in the ground below. The picture will require no further attention.
Offered in a plain gilt wood frame with ribbon twist and bead ornament in good condition.

Catalogue Note
O. Lefeuvre lists in his catalogue a pendant depicting a well dressed man leaning on a white horse and receiving a glass of wine from a girl, (whereabouts currently unknown), with which this picture was sold in the 1936 Vienna auction and again in the 2008 Munich sale.1
