Description

  • Four ceramic tile fragments, Persia
  • ceramic
  • 24 by 23cm., 15cm. max length., 22 by 6cm., 17.8 by 8cm.
comprising four tiles, including a fragment with moulded white calligraphic inscription on a cobalt blue ground, a cobalt-blue and white moulded triangular tile with central flowerhead, a rectangular border tile with turquoise border, a lustre decorated tile

Condition

The large calligraphic tile fragmentary, with pitting, cracquelure and iridescence to glazed surface, the triangular tile in good condition, intact, with small chip to one corner, some surface scratches and light cracquelure, the border tile also a section, intact, with a couple of very minor chips to external edges, light scratches to surface glaze, the lustre tile fragmentary with one edge chipped, part of glaze to surface missing, the edges abraded, please note that the origin of this tile is uncertain, possibly Persia or the Middle East, as viewed.
