Description

the central star medallion surrounded by feathery palmettes, hyacinth spandrels and carnation border, with later gilt metal braid binding, mounted onto a stretcher
Condition
Overall measurements: 92 by 68cm (mounted); 90 by 64.5cm (textile visible); 3ft., 2ft. 3in. and 2ft. 11in., 2ft. 1in.
The textile has been attached to a linen panel on a stretcher. The textile has been edged on four-sides with metal ribbon. Top edges, lacking red edging, as visible in the photograph. There is some wear to velvet and ground overall, and some consolidation stitching to the ground, for example in the centre of the top of the panel and within the central cartouche.
