Description

  • walnut and beech
each with an arched padded back, arms and seat on square tapering legs, the top-and seat-rails with rocaille cartouche, the arms with piastres and acanthus leaves

Condition

In overall good conserved condition. Joints sound and sturdy. Evidence of old very minor worm which appears to be no longer active. The gilding is worn in places especially on the top-rails and the arms and there are scattered chips to gilding which can easily be touched up. There is a section of the front of the seat-rail approx. 9cm long missing together with part of the cartouche and acanthus spray from the armchair in the background as visible from the catalogue photograph.The feet are scuffed.
