Arabic manuscript on paper, 252 leaves plus 4 flyleaves, 26 leaves remargined, 15 lines to the page, written in neat naskh script in black ink, verses separated by gold florets, catchwords, surah headings in white against gold ground panels with occasional use of colour, polychrome marginal medallions of varying designs throughout, margins ruled in gold, black and red, opening double page illuminated frontispiece decorated in gold with a thick interlace of flowers and split palmettes, colophon with ensuite decoration, morocco binding with gilt-stamped corner pieces and medallions, some evidence of re-gilding, with flap
Condition
In reasonably good overall condition, binding repaired with some re-gilding to flap and spine, pages slightly cropped, numerous fragile leaves with text area splitting and requiring consolidation, 26 leaves remargined, ink bold and illumination bright, as viewed.
