Catalogue Note

Hispano-Moresque lustre pottery attracted not only Muslim and Christian patrons from Spain, but was also sought after by aristocratic families in countries such as France and Italy. The coat-of-arms at the centre of this dish belongs most probably to the Bossi family of Milan, attesting to the spread of taste and patronage for such wares (see J.B. Rietstap, Armorial Général, vol.I, 1886, p.260).
