  • Persian manuscript on paper, later brown lacquer binding
Persian manuscript on paper, 9 leaves plus 2 flyleaves, 7 lines to the page, 4 written diagonally in small neat black nasta'liq script, 3 in larger script in alternating blue and white, outer margins flecked with gold, opening illuminated double page with text in cloud bands against a gold ground, colophon with 2 painted birds, later brown lacquer binding with stamped vegetal cartouches

Provenance

A seal impression dated 1089 AH/1678 AD indicates the manuscript was the property of a certain Muhammad Yar. It later entered the library of, possibly, Prince Husayn (later Shah Sultan Husayn). It was registered in a Royal Library in 1135 AH/1722-3 AD and a later inscription notes that it was given to the Afsharid Prince Shahrukh in Herat.

Condition

In generally good overall condition, binding with various losses to extremities, manuscript thumbed with minor stains and creases, minor paper repairs, as viewed.
