Catalogue Note

The painter’s mark remains unidentified, see David Peters, Sèvres Plates and Services of the 18th Century, 2005, Vol. I, p. 97, where the author lists the painter as being active between 1754-56 (now 57), as a painter of landscapes and birds in landscapes. A pair of jardinières painted with similar scenes is illustrated by Tamara Préaud and Antoinette Fay-Halle, Porcelaines de Vincennes, Les Origines de Sèvres, 1977-1978, p. 38, nos. 53-54. A Vincennes flower vase, cuvettes à Fleurs unies, painted in a very similar manner was sold at Christie’s London, 9th June 2011, lot 122.
