Description

the sides applied with a band of double shells alternating with anthemion buds on matted ground, flared gadrooned rims interrupted by leaf-flanked shells and palmettes, turned-wood bases inset with discs engraved with crest below a baron's coronet

Condition

Some light wear to highlights commensurate with age, marked on rims and discs, hallmarks generally good, one turned wood base with a split, overall good condition.

Catalogue Note

The crest is that of Duncombe, Barons Feversham for Charles Duncombe (1764-1841), first son and heir of Charles Slingsby Duncombe (d. 1803), who on 14 July 1826 was created Baron Feversham of Duncombe Park, Yorkshire. He was married on 24 September 1795 to Charlotte (1774-1848), daughter of William Legge, 2nd Earl of Dartmouth.
