of flattened pear form, the gold mounts chased with flowers and scrollwork, the front with a bird and white and gold enamel inscription 'l'amitiĆ© vous l'offre', later thumbpiece and cut-glass bottle, with a gilt tooled leather case and a letter of provenance

Provenance

By family tradition as stated in the letter of provenence [translated from German]: 'Goldwork around 1750 formerly in the possession of Princess Marie-Antoinette – daughter of Marie-Theresa, Empress of Austria – later Queen of France.
Through inheritance and as a gift to Marie-Theres of Austria, wife of King Ludwig III of Bavaria.
Later to the daughter Wiltrud, princess of Bavaria, later duchess of Wurttemberg-?.
From the duchess Wiltrud to your grandmother, Edith, baroness von Rehlingen, as a gift to her 70th birthday 1968, celebrated in Oberstdorf / Allgäu, where we, the family von Rehlingen, had the honour to befriend their Royal Highnesses'; thence by descent to the current owner
