Catalogue Note

This exceptionally rare piece of Bow porcelain seemingly has no comparable in the literature. The moulded swags of flowers can be compared with those which appear on larger Bow sauceboats and contemporary silver forms. A highly comparable sauceboat applied with a similar handle and decorated with similar flowers is in the V&A museum, London, mus. no. C. 844-1920.
