noyer sculpté figurant une libellule butinant une feuille

Condition

Très bon état général. Léger jeu entre le corps de la libellule et ses ailes gauches. L'antenne gauche manquante et la droite vraisemblablement cassée à son extrémité. Ce manque n'alterne pas la force et la beauté de l'ensemble. Very good overall condition. The left wings of the dragonfly very slightly loose from the body. The left antenna missing and the end of the right one most probably broken and missing but these lack do not alter the beauty and strength of the whole sculpture.

Catalogue Note

This mirror appears to be a discovery, that was previously only known through an album of images of works by the artist coming from the personal archives of the artist (purchased on June 27th, 2005 at Millon & Associés, lot 342). In the album it is illustrated together with the mirror 'Aux Ombelles', two examples of which are known, one in the collection of Musée de l'Ecole de Nancy, and the other sold at Sotheby's Paris, February 2013, from the Garden Museum Collection. The two pictures in the album are captioned: 'Two mirrors, circa 1900'; and one image is signed in ink by Jacques Gruber.

It is quite likely that the mirror offered here is a unique piece
