Description

  • jade, wood base
de section quadrilobée aux côtés arrondis, soutenu par quatre petits pieds cambrés surgissant de masques d'animaux fabuleux, la panse finement sculptée d'une frise de masques taotie archaïsants, les bords évasés flanqués de deux têtes de chilong formant anses et retenant chacune un anneau mobile, le couvercle quadrilobé surmonté d'une prise en forme de chrysanthème et sculpté du même décor, socle en bois sculpté (3)

Condition

The censer and cover are in overall very good condition. There is ca. 1 x 0.3 cm natural flaw in the stone on the side of the rim. There is very minute fritting to the rims of the censer and cover and the raised parts of the handle.The pale celadon stone, suffused with milky inclusions, is a more yellowish-celadon tone than the catalogue illustration suggests.
