Description

  • Jade, wood base

Provenance

Acquired from Drouot, Paris, 19th and 20th February 1934, lot 93.

Condition

Both censer and cover are well-carved, the foot of the censer carved separately but of the same piece of stone as the censer and cover. Both censer and cover are in very good overall condition. There are very minute fritts or bruises to the edges and raised parts of the carving. There is a ca. 1cm long shallow and possibly slightly polished chip to the rim of the foot. The colour of the stone is a more celadon tone than the catalogue illustration suggests.
