Description

  • Lacquer
la partie supérieure formée d'un médaillon ajouré abritant l'un le parasol, l'autre la roue du dharma, entouré d'une frise de lotus dans les rinceaux, reposant sur un gros lotus dont le dessus est modelé comme une cosse et les côtés de plusieurs rangées de pétales, soutenu par une tige ajourée dans les rinceaux feuillagés, le tout sur une base circulaire en forme de dôme ornée de pétales stylisés entre deux bandes de têtes de ruyi, le pied souligné d'une frise de grecques, la couche supérieure de laque rouge délicatement sculptée dévoilant la couche verte puis ocre (2)

Condition

There is a ca. 4cm long crack extending from the rim of one emblem into the base (visible in the catalogue illustration). On the same emblem, there is a ca. 1cm wide area of restoration to the centre rim of the circular frame where the parasol touches the frame. On both emblems, the insides of the domed bases have been relacquered. There are minor overall losses to the raised and pointed parts of the carved design.
