Acquired in China between 1894 and 1922.
Thence in the family by descent.

Condition

The sceptre is in overall very good condition. There are fritts and minute chips to the sharp and raised parts of the carved design. The tip of the dragon's right horn has chipped off and is missing. The stone is a light dark green tone suffused with milkier patches and dark green and black speckles and has been polished to a soft shine. The stone is a more saturated dark green colour than the catalogue illustration.
