There are overall losses to the mother-of-pearl inlays on the cover, sides and foot. There are some losses to the black lacquer and associated mother of pearl exposing the underlying textile and gesso on the sides of the cover, the sides of the tray and actual box. There are some losses to the lacquer exposing the underlying wood along the rims of the box, cover and tray. The interior of the box, cover and tray may have been repainted. The box is quite dirty and could do with cleaning.
