Condition
Good condition overall.Wear consistent with age and use within the culture. Few minor scratches and chips to the belly of the instrument and a minor hairline crack to the chin. Strings do not seem original.

Catalogue Note
Cette harpe ngombi, instrument principal du rituel et de l'enseignement initiatique du Bwété, évoque une entité féminine dont Disumba était le premier ancêtre. "Sa voix est celle du ronflement des chutes où vivent les génies" (Perrois, Sallée et Sillans, Art et artisanat Tsogho, 1975, p. 37). Elle se distingue par la beauté du visage, dont la finesse et la douceur des traits sont accentuées par la patine blanchie au kaolin.
