Condition

This work is in very good condition. The white tonality is warmer compared to the catalogue illustration. There is a tiny and faint speck to the nail tip of the last lower right extroflection. No traces of retouching appear to be visible under UV light.

(...) Da tempo ho scartato ogni possibilità di aggiungere alla superficie zone, colore, composizione; quindi l'unica possibilità di cui mi fornisco è quella di dare un corpo alla superficie rendendola percettibile attraverso la luce che viene modulata dai rilievi; l'artigianalità è del tutto limitata a questo scopo..., sì, io considero la superficie come dato di fatto positivo dal quale partire... io ho sempre pensato che l'arte sia dietro il quadro, non davanti (...).

(...) It's been quite some time now that I've discarded whatever possibility of adding zones, color and composition to the surface; therefore the only possibility I provide myself with is to give a body to the surface by making it perceptible by way of light that is modulated by the reliefs; the craftsmanship is totally limited to this aim... yes, I consider the surface as a positive fact from which to start out... I've always thought that art is behind the painting and not in front of it (...).
