Catalogue Note

1967 is a crucial year for Afro, with the end of the american era, his last exhibition at Catherine Viviano Gallery will take place on early 1968, and a new 'moment of rethinking' which made him 'anguished and depressed'. In this transactional moment, Afro rethinks his story and he 'has his old paintings in mind, he transforms it, into new paintings, he gives it new blood through a new sentiment' (C. Vivaldi, "Civiltà delle macchine", July-August 1967).
