Description

  • A Marble Torso of a Nymph

  • Height 13 3/4 in. 34.9 cm.
standing with her legs crossed and right arm raised, the large hand of a satyr(?) pressing the folds of her mantle against her upper back and left shoulder in a mighty embrace, remains of a support against her right buttock.

Swiss private collection, acquired prior to 1980

Condition

Good and as shown and described, note abrasion by her raised arm, and an area of remaining encrustation on her right thigh, remains of a support on her right buttock as mentioned in description, the hand of the satyr(?) missing the upper part, large chips on the thumb and fourth and fifth finger, very minor nicks and abrasions elsewhere, back of torso with some staining and other small imperfections, surface cleaned at some point in its modern history.
